Scenery spikes at SCEL

Post by toddl » Sun Aug 25, 2019 7:28 pm

HI,

I just bought SCEL from Simmarket. After a flight from Paris and on approach and landing I had scenery spikes at the airport. Looked like light poles extended to about 2 or 3 thousand feet AGL. PBR enabled. Running P3d 4.5. I know this was to be fixed in version 2.3 but not for me. Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Todd

Hi, how did you install SCEL?

2.3 shouldn't have this issue. I been hearing that FSDT KORDv2 has this problem, and they said Lockheed is working on fixing, but I am completely sure this was fixed for SCEL.

Would love to see a picture of this when able.

Thanks for the response Ricardo. I just let the installer handle it. I made no changes to path etc. I read about the KORD issues (I never had them). I am running Orbx vector so I will try disabling AEC for SCEL and see if that helps. I will try to post an image, although I have never done that before. I guess it's about time I learn how too! Keep you posted. And to be clear, I love the scenery, as I do KMIA etc. Hopefully this is just an anomaly for me which we can get sorted. Thanks!

Hi, we did some tests, among them flying a long haul flight from another continent on the PMDG 777, and initially those tests on some systems showed the spikes. After re-compiling and fixing, did the same flight and it did not happen. However there is a possibility it might.

You have KMIAv5 you don't get this problem?

I haven't experienced it at Miami but I usually depart from there for long hauls (Great scenery!). I reloaded SCEL today and when starting from there I had NO issues. Everything looked great! It was only after that long haul arrival that I had the spikes. Tried disabling SCEL in Orbx vector but AEC didn't recognize SCEL in the configurator. The spikes I saw are virtually identical to those shown in the images Kai posted on April 18th in this forum. I will try another long haul tonight and see what happens.

Thanks!

I just landed after a 14+ hour flight from YSSY. I am happy to report NO spikes when I landed. The airport was socked in until about 300ft but when on the ground I saw no spiking. This flight approached from the south not the north like my last one. I will try the Paris flight again but hopefully I just had a strange anomaly! As an aside, when I updated to P3dV5 I only updated the client and content and NOT the scenery. Not sure if this matters or helps but I thought I would let you know. I really love this scenery! Keep you posted and thanks!

Hi, updating can be a reason why the issue was sorted. Coming from the north or south or west or east won't make a difference. So I think you are good.

Ricardo,

Bad news. I just flew in from Paris again and lots of spikes. I took lots of pictures on my iPhone and P3d. Let me know the best way to get them to you. Thanks!
