Installation Location

Post by PC Pilot » Mon Aug 05, 2019 9:41 pm

Hello,

Curious if LatinVFR can be installed on a different hard drive from the simulator? I’ve been reading about this (and .xml files) and was wondering if this option is available. It sure would be nice especially since I’ve had to reimage my sim HD more than once.

the .xml files will go to yourdocuments/prepar3d addons folder

the scenery would install by default on the main P3d folder but you can change it if you wish on installation.

Thanks for the quick response. I had to clone my HD from an earlier version and would like to install the scenery on a different drive.

Much appreciated.

Hi,

Can I ask a follow up question on this thread.

If I install the scenery outside the sim root directory - it works but then why effect & textures files in the root sim directory and scenery is outside the sim directory.

During P3d upgrades and installs - I would like my addons to just work instead of finding files all over the place. Is there way you can add the effects / textures files install outside also. I know with P3Dv4.5hf1 you can have all the elements working.

I have used Lorby's addon tool to study the xml file structure and even read P3D SDK - that even autogen files can be loaded outside etc - just need those strings in the xml.

Thoughts on this?

Thanks

Hi, good question, we can certainly take a look at doing this with future installers of our next products. Or when we also revise previous products too.
