Landing/Approach Speeds
Landing/Approach Speeds
Got the A319 at the weekend and was having issues with landing feeling like it just didn’t want to go down. Thinking about it and doing a bit of investigating, the MCDU lists approach speeds of around 150kts when in reality, the approach speed of an A319 at maximum landing weight is 126kts. This seems to tie in with the barber poles on the PFD. Is this something that can be fixed?

Re: Landing/Approach Speeds
This can vary by weight of the aircraft at the moment of approach and landing. How much was your weight at that time?

Re: Landing/Approach Speeds
According to simbrief it was estimated at around 58000kg landing weight
Re: Landing/Approach Speeds
Further to this, the calculator on the EFB gives much more realistic takeoff and approach speeds than those that automatically load into the MCDU

Re: Landing/Approach Speeds
Yeah, we suggest you use those speeds and not those calculated by automatically by the CDU
