KFLL non PBR issue on Windows/P3D reinstall

Post by FBWFTW » Thu Mar 11, 2021 5:09 am

I recently had to reinstall windows and P3D, of course I reinstalled my LatinLVFR stuff right after Orbx Base/NA/SA/EU/UK and True Earth Florida. I previously had gotten in my old install 30+ FPS in the FSLabs A32X series at PBR KFLL with the KMIA non PBR installed using the same settings I’m using now... Unfortunately KFLL so far has been a slideshow until after takeoff. I get 12-20fps and 6.2/6.9GB vram on the ground until liftoff where the frames immediately pick up to 35+ and I drop 500MB+ of vram (Goes from 12-20fps and 6.2GB to 35+ FPS and 5.4GB vram)

I have the sloped/wet runway fix xml in the folder... As soon as I lift off things ease up... I can’t figure out what’s going on exactly as I have the same PC with fresh installs. The only difference now is that I’m using non PBR for both KFLL and KMIA whereas before I had PBR KFLL and non PBR KMIA (worked like a charm-super smooth performance without having to disable KMIA or KFLL!) Ricardo, I own almost every product you make for V5 in North America, hoping you can help out with some suggestions here because South Florida is my favorite place to fly!

I have the Orbx TE Florida files turned off for KFLL/KMIA (CVX/PLC/AF all as .off) as well as having all the boxes UNTICKED in the LVFR configurators.

True earth Florida I have heard reports of performance issues, but in any case having KMIA nearby may be a problem, have you tried what I said in this thread:

Yes indeed Ricardo, reducing the LOD/draw distance was my first go to in an attempt to increase performance. When that didn’t work, I unchecked everything in the configurator (even though before I had animations etc. on) I’m just trying to figure out what’s causing it. I will try to uninstall the non-PBR KFLL and reinstall the PBR KFLL to see if it makes the same difference as it did before. Whatever it is, it’s using at least 200-400MB more of vram compared to my previous installation and cutting the frames roughly in half. When I had first installed LVFR PBR KMIA-I had a few out of vram issues-I played with the settings some, wound up going to the non-PBR KMIA and that worked VERY well with the LOD/draw distance tricks. Again, I never had frame rate issues at either KFLL or KMIA but I did have to play with settings to keep the vram manageable.

Ricardo-I wanted to circle back on this... I uninstalled the non PBR version of KFLL and reinstalled the PBR version-that was immediately the end of my FPS issues. With PBR KFLL and non PBR KMIA installed and LOD on high, I get 29-45fps averaging about 30fps or so. The problem now is vram I’m running up against my limit and it also limits which aircraft I can fly into or out of there. With LOD turned down-I still pull 5.8-6.3GB vram out of 7.0GB. I’d like to reinstall the non PBR version for testing again-but I think there’s that slippery runway file or SOME FILE in there that may hinder the performance. I will report back after more testing.

Do you have texture resolution in 1024x1024?. That might help.

Yes Ricardo, I keep it all in 1024 all the time. The vram is significantly higher on this install for some weird reason. Haven’t gotten around to trying the non PBR KFLL just yet but I’ll report back

Hi, some of the shadows do have an impact, try to remove them.
