KFLL VRAM Issue

Post by rsmith6621ab » Tue May 05, 2020 1:07 pm

I purchased KFLL yesterday morning off of the LVFR store and did two flights in to FLL yesterday.

The first one KLAS/KFLL ended 1 mile short of the 28L runway on final when I had an out of VRAM error where I had used every bit of the 6.7 VRAM available. This was set at higher settings than the below screen shots. I am using a EVGA GTX1080Ftw GPU and I7 6700k CPU OC to 4.7.

The second flight was using the screen settings below, KMSY/KFLL. I basically uncheck any performance hogs from the config tool including excluding KMIA which I have also installed and own. I was able to get on the runway 28L but the VRAM was at 6.0 and FPS dropped to 9-15.

This morning with a clean reboot of my desktop I loaded up P3d V5 and KFLL at RWY 28L and the FPS were upper teens to low 20"s but the VRAM was already at 4.9 having done nothing. It doesn't change even when in the gates.

Is there any solutions. Perhaps more optimization is needed. The weather settings were at Fair on both flights.

Thank you
Randall Smith

Hi, if you bring the texture down to 1024x1024 you won't have the VRAM and FPS issues. You might see some textures blurry but not much of a problem. Please check and let me know

Ricardo,

I didn't purchase your scenery to have to lower the settings and to have blurry textures. KMIA doesn't do this.

Would purchasing a GTX1080ti solve this and allow me to run texture quality at 2048.

Running with Truesky? you want to run truesky with 2048x2048? perhaps you would. But Truesky is still in beta so I would rather wait and see.

Not running Truesky, I don't like it. I am waiting for HiFi to come out with a patch for ASCA an Rex SkyForce.

Also what about the GPU question I asked last post.

Ideally moving forward I would recommend a card that gets 11GB of VRAM

You are using 8xSSAA, too high of a setting, try to reduce that with your current card, you are going to be able to load 2048 textures if you reduce that settings. Use 30FPS locked. Try to limit the shadows casting too.

Ricardo,

I just build a new system with a Asus ROG 390-E MOBO and a I7-9700K CPU. and the same GTX1080FTW2 8GB GPU.

Yesterday I did an early Windows Insider Update to 2004 and have noticed a vast improvement in and around 10 of the 3rd party airport scenery's I have during take off and landing, nearly 15 FPS more and smoother performance except KFLL. While my VRAM was only 5.4 of 7.1 landing on 28R the FPS drop like a brick from the mid 30's to the mid teens and VRAM starts to spike starting 2 mile out from 2.9 to the 5.4. My settings in the config are naked except for the city scenery is check on.

I am still watching for a 1080ti GPU or even a 2080 8gb GPU.

Any other thoughts.

Randy

Hello Randy,

as I wrote in another thread, Lockheed is looking into this subject and hopefully they can address these VRAM issues, I have access to them and they appear into that.

Because not only my addons are having issues others too. So lets hope they get this sorted soon.

In the meantime I recommend you tone down the settings as I asked you in the last post.
