DIRECT TO not working as intended

I have noticed that the DIRECT TO function of the FMC is not working as it should.

If you select a waypoint from the flight plan via DIRECT TO, the aircraft will follow the entry. However, after reaching the selected fix, the aircraft will immediately turn to the waypoint which was planned before the DIRECT TO entry.

This makes it incredibly difficult to make changes to the flight plan at short notice.

In the bug thread of the A340 a user is complaining about the exact same issue.
