Shiny metallic textures (solved)

Post by Flic1 » Wed May 08, 2019 11:27 pm

Hi Ricardo - I have the latest version 1.3 (uninstalled prior version before updating) and just noticed shiny metallic textures bleeding through nearly everywhere. I assume this has something to do with PBR? It's a bit of a mess (see 2 attached pics). The only thing I have done in my sim (a mistake) was to try REX Environment Force last week. It caused me so many issues and had to uninstall it along with replacing all of my original shaders, client repair, reinstall etc. I am unsure what would technically cause this so wanted to check with you before I have to go to REX as they may say it's a scenery issue....

Hi, do you have P3dv4.4 updated client?

Also do you have dynamic reflections set to at leaste LOW or MEDIUM?

I wanted to see a bit up closer on the pics, can you upload a higher resolution images perhaps?

Since you always had KMSY you have had this issue?

Hi Ricardo - I am on P3D 4.5 latest version. I do not use dynamic reflections and never have. Does this latest version require it? I have had KMSY since the day it came out and never saw this. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling KMSY without luck and even tried the older versions that did not have the issue. I could not attach anything larger to the post so linked some pics for you...thanks!

Ricardo - You know what, I just tried with dynamic reflections on low and that solved the problem! Was that always the case or just with latest version as I did not have that issue on the prior versions?? Thanks and sorry I overlooked this requirement!

Yes, the thing is that the dynamic reflections on 'low' at least will show those materials correct. Whereas without it, it just shows a 'default' environment map. thanks

Is it possible to have a replacement texture? I don't use reflections because it ruins performance (I run 4k resolution), Thanks.

Hi, running it in LOW or MEDIUM, will yield same performance in most systems as having it off.
There is now way to have PBR textures and having that off, PBR textures by default call the reflections, and if you have it dynamic reflections in OFF you will get that issue. So basically all PBR will contain, it will take replacing textures to all the models making it standard or normal P3d textures.
