We are very proud to announce AREX: Airport Regional Environment X, which will initially begin with the region of North America.
This addon replaces the stock/default ground service vehicles for the North American region in its thousands of airports and the airport vehicle traffic to fully enjoy a more realistic environment with vehicles common in the area. The ground service vehicles have logos for the most important ground handling companies. The catering trucks also have for the most important companies. The Contrail version of this product will allow you to select airline liveries for the aircraft ground handling vehicles. Whereas the MS marketplace on its release is not planned to have that. This product is not intended to be a replacement for any future GSX for MSFS by FSDT release, therefore it is planned it can work together without issues, since this program uses the SDK and just replaces default vehicles without doing any significant changes to the sim.

· Replacement of ground services vehicles with customized and more realistic for the region at ALL airports in North America (Continental US and Canada).
· Customized sounds of the different engines and animation situations.
· Different logos for the companies that provide airport services in North America.
· Realistic catering truck used in the region, with the logos of the most important airport catering companies.
· Customized push back truck depicting regional companies.
· Customized and regional types of vehicle traffic, that make the airport environment more realistic and according to vehicles used in the region.
· Uses the default system of calling ground services, no external apps or files needed.
· No negative impact on performance.
How it works?
This uses strictly the MSFS SDK in its current form, with its limitations. We did strictly the animations as they are allowed on the SDK and which are exactly the same as the default animations. The only main difference as we mentioned are, the models, textures and sounds.
We use the 3 regions of North America which cover and does not divide the US from Canada as you can see:
Users will have the option of having either: Some random ground handling company, which are 3 in this case, Swissport, ASIG and Menzies or selecting 8 different airlines, American, Delta, United, Frontier, Jetblue, Alaska, Spirit and Southwest airlines.
Via the contrail app you will select among those 9 options, understanding that due to the current limitations of the SDK, by selecting one of them, you will have them all the same on all thousands of airports in the North American region. We hope that Asobo can make changes on the SDK to allow users to select the airline they want for services in the game, or at the very least to allow certain companies to be more predominant in certain airports.
By default you will have the ground handling companies, and if you like to have your airline you can select it but will know that it will be applied across all airports and all gates. We initially did not wish to put airlines, but because of feedback during beta testing we went ahead with them.
The airport vehicles behave exactly like the default, but now they are accurate to this region.
Feel free to post on our forums any questions on this addon! Expect more news in the coming days!
