Thanks to all for the amazing support to our SCELv2 scenery. Because of the support and success of this product, we decided to do a very significant update to SCELv2 by adding new features. Because of the feedback we were able to fix some small issues and because Lockheed Martin released P3dv4.4 we were able to add PBR support to this scenery. Thanks to Rob, Jose and all of those who tested SCELv2 with PBR and provided feedback in regards to it. Like I said PBR brings a whole new dimension to P3dv4, and since this is all new, we are still learning, and with SCELv2 the upgrade for all of those who tested seems that this PBR version is much better.
Like I mentioned this is mostly new to us, a lot of things need to be fully learned and some bugs may exist. LM has already acknowledged a small issue with the PBR ground and Dynamic lights, this issue has been addressed and we expect them to issue fix in the coming months (hopefully soon). Something else that we asked LM was the possibility of PBR photo scenery/land class, they have noted this and hopefully they would be able to implement it in the future as well. This last feature I think is essential for a complete PBR environment in P3dv4 because as we can apply PBR to almost everything, and the edges of our scenery would be noticed the non-PBR elements.
From our vantage point as we progress on learning and maturing with this new rendering engine in PBR the more we learn we can make it more perfect for all our products that we do from now on. Since we will keep PBR in our minds whilst developing. We hope to slowly add some PBR to our old scenery but this is going to be slow because changing materials and adding new materials to already existing projects will take some time. Our next projects we expect to be more than 90% PBR. I say 90% because some elements PBR doesn’t work quite well yet such as trees, fences and we have yet to add it to photo scenery. We hope to get 100% sometime in the near future.
SCELv2.2
For this update to SCELv2 2.2 we REQUIRE a FULL installation of p3dv4.4 we say full because we did some
tests with some systems that only had parts installed and the end result was not desired. If in any case
you aren’t able to have 4.4 in your system, DON’T install SCELv2.2 in your system, though we added the
option in the ‘scenery configurator’ of selecting PBR or Standard materials, the jetways which go to your
SODE folder are instantly updated to the new PBR jetways upon installation of v2.2.
The scenery will automatically install the STANDARD materials and only if you go to the scenery
configurator tool located in p3d/latinvfr/Santiago_SCELv2/ folder you would be able to open the
configuarator and select PBR materials. We give this option also since we want the end customer to prefer
on whether or not they will like to try it.
Change log:
• PBR compatibility on all buildings and all ground polygons.
• Added animated ramp agents. Work of Jonathan Blanco.
• Added the two 3D VOR’s which were missing
• Fixed some apron parking issues.
• Added REIL lights to the runways.
• Among other small fixes.
To install this update you DON’T need to UNINSTALL the scenery, just run the installer.
Here are a couple of the juxtapose images showing the differences between legacy or standard to PBR materials:

here are couple of videos made by Rob Ainscough showing a bit of the PBR materials

We initially asked users to update P3dv4 to 4.4 full, but we believe at this time is not necessary. Only Content and client will be sufficient for the PBR materials.
