Been back in the A319 recently and finding it really likes to float on landing and/or land hard and bounce. The performance calculator on the EFB always said 134kt approach speed but I felt like it was stalling around 50ft which made me think this might be too slow but none of it added up
Today the update came out and now the performance calculator is saying around 141kt but again, it just wants to float on a full flaps landing
So I’ve been playing around with it and I noticed that the performance calculator asks whether it’s a flaps 3 or flaps full landing but the approach speed it gives is the same for both which isn’t right. Couple this with the approach checklist being green when on flaps 3 and blue when on flaps full and I’m thinking that this calculation is done for flaps 3. With this in mind I’ve tried landing flaps full at 131kt and I’m finally buttering the landings in the touchdown zone.
What I thought was a stall was in fact just ground effect starting at 55ft (half wingspan) which adds lift but lessens the effectiveness of control surfaces. Any slight bank was being exaggerated and difficult to come back from
So could you please look into the EFB landing calculator and make the choice of flaps have an impact on the recommended approach speed?
On a side note about the EFB, the send to CDU button for simbrief isn’t working on the A319

Re: A319 landing speed
The A319 along with the other brothers like to land flap 3. Flap full produces lots of lift, but if the speed is lower than Flap 3 you should be OK, we will look into the flight model also to see what can be sharpened.
As for the EFB, there is going to be a new EFB in the coming months which should be better with the calculations.

Re: A319 landing speed
Azlog, can you tell me what weight and balance you're using when you experience this problem? I will do a test flight to check things on my end.Azlog wrote: ↑Fri Nov 10, 2023 11:12 pmBeen back in the A319 recently and finding it really likes to float on landing and/or land hard and bounce.
