1.0.6 Observations
1.0.6 Observations
Dear LVFR team,
After the latest update (October 27) I have noticed several differences in the behaviour of the A319. These are not necessarily bugs, but things that are strange or disturbing a little bit in my opinion. I'm curious whether these are deliberate choices or they can be changed in the future.
Cockpit lights: After the latest update, most of the cockpit lights are on by default. "Main Panel Floodlight" on both sides, "Pedestal Lighting" and "Glareshield Brightness" are all 100% when you start the aircraft. Since the majority of flights take place during the day, these are not needed, however now all flights begin with turning these off one by one. I wish it was the opposite, that they were off by default and we could turn them on if needed.
Braking: Due to the new "gear compression system", manual braking feels off. On Xbox, there is no way for analogue braking, you can only press and hold the "X" button to brake, which means full brakes every time. However, now the aircraft feels as if it hits the tarmac, it's so stiff, and also literally bounces up and down as it brakes, at least in feeling. I don't think the physics handle this perfectly. It was completely smooth before the update. To reproduce, please try using and braking with a controller, or use full braking with pedals to see what I mean.
Speedbrakes: I noticed that during takeoff, if you move the throttle to the TOGA position, then pull it back to FLX, the speedbrakes fully open as if it was a rejected takeoff. I always try to take off with FLX, however it's not easy to hit the detent and it sometimes slips to TOGA. Prior to the last update, I could pull it back to FLX and proceed with the takeoff, however now the speedbrakes spring up, making it harder than it should be. Is this deliberate / realistic behaviour? Should I just leave it on TOGA now, if I accidentally push the throttle too far?
Performance: There is a reproduceable stutter now, when you change camera views. If you switch to external camera, just after you switch back to the cockpit camera, there is a split second stutter. It's noticeable and wasn't there before the update. It's most visible if you start turning the camera as soon as you switch to cockpit view, but it is there even if you don't move the camera. Not a big deal, but noticeable.
(p.s. Sorry if the version number is incorrect in the topic title, I can't check it right now... These things apply to the October 27 update.)

There is no way currently to have the plane know if its day or night. Or even if is day but overcast and dark. You can always tone those lights down in the pedestal. Previously there was a light that was on all the time it was a very dim light but still not a realistic one.
on the Braking:
We needed to actually make the gear compression to be like that because it was unrealistic, when the plane was heavy and light there was no obvious difference and now there is. If you need to brake with the controller as we also do when we test our aircraft, just tap it, don't hold the X as that will cause that issue. Will revise and see what can we do to improve but the plane was very unrealistic the way it was previously.
on speedbrakes. We have done no changes whatsoever to that behavior. There must be something going on with the way you move your throttles, as we have done exactly what you have said and we don't have that issue.
on performance will take a look and check but haven't noticed anything significant. Thank you

Thank you. I don't expect the aircraft to know whether it's day or night, I just think the cockpit lights are more often not needed than they are, therefore it would probably be more practical to have them off by default. (The new night lighting itself is awesome, by the way.)RicardoLVFR wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 4:52 pmOn the cockpit lights.

I will keep testing the take offs. I was very surprised today when the spoilers opened to 100% by themselves. I'll see if it was because I pulled back from TOGA to FLX or maybe something else. Also, thank you for the info on the braking.

Re: 1.0.6 Observations
Ok sure we can continue to examine to remove them, the thing is that there was some sort of artificial light inside the cockpit that when it was dark it still glowed despite no power or light on inside the cockpit. We removed that one, that wasn't possible to turn off and instead we turned this one that could be turned off.dreampage wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 5:40 pmThank you. We tried reducing from TOGA to FLX and had no issues. Let us know

Re: 1.0.6 Observations
Yes, i was looking the entire cockpit to turn of that artificial lightning. I'm glad that it's gone now.
Re: 1.0.6 Observations
I tried to reproduce the spoiler issue but I was unsuccessful, so it must have been some kind of anomaly, or I did something else wrong. Going forward I will only report issues that I can reliably reproduce. Sorry about that.RicardoLVFR wrote: ↑Fri Oct 28, 2022 7:55 pmOk sure we can continue to examine to remove them, the thing is that there was some sort of artificial light inside the cockpit that when it was dark it still glowed despite no power or light on inside the cockpit. Regarding the lights. I'm glad you removed that fake light, the cockpit was too bright during night time. However, I still find it a chore to turn off every other light after I start the aircraft. Even at night time, I use them mostly on 5-10% brightness, so them being 100% by default means I still have to turn them down one by one, no matter the time of day. It would be more practical if all lights were off by default. It's not a problem if the cockpit is fully dark at start, because there is an automatic flashlight in the sim anyway, so the switches can be found.

Hi, I understand, the issue is we will then have to deal with customers who say that they find the cockpit dark and can't turn them on. We will brainstorm into finding a solution halfway that everyone is happy with.dreampage wrote: ↑Sat Oct 29, 2022 4:34 pmI tried to reproduce the spoiler issue but I was unsuccessful, so it must have been some kind of anomaly, or I did something else wrong. Re: 1.0.6 Observations
I have to agree with "dreampage" on the gear compression / braking issue. Since the latest update, braking with an Xbox controller has become very unrealistic as the aircraft bounces up and down the runway.
The worst is when you switch to manual breaking after turning off the reversers and autobrake upon landing. The bouncing also happens on the take-off roll when you are supposed to push the side-stick forward until 100 knots so that the aeroplane does not rotate before VR.
Unfortunately, tapping on the "X" button as you suggested has nearly no effect on the braking action. Xbox users have to keep pressing on it for the plane to actually slow down to taxi speed.
Do you think that a future update to address the issue is possible?

Re: 1.0.6 Observations
We heard the feedback and we will revert at least the front gear to not having this issue. So next week's update we hope to have it fixed.from_the_mount wrote: ↑Tue Nov 01, 2022 7:01 pmI have to agree with "dreampage" on the gear compression / braking issue. Re: 1.0.6 Observations
Amazing! Thank you. As I know the gear compression update for the 321 is scheduled for this week, will the change with the front gear apply for the 321 one day too?
