FMS Airway issue.

I have an issue adding an airway after the last fix of the SID (which eventually starts on an airway).

I'm trying to insert Q77 after STYMY.. While on the "airways from STYMY" page. The LSK L1 and LSK R1 seems to be already populated FLMGO1 & WAPON respectively and I can't input Q77.SHARKS anywhere (and why is the departure procedure displayed here anyways). While trying to add Q77 to LSK L1 or L2 it says not in database. Anybody have any help with this? TIA

RTE: FLMGO1 STYMY Q77 SHRKS LAIRI LARZZ ... KATL

FYI: FMS displays the current navigraph AIRAC database.

Sputnik24,

These aircraft use the Asobo/Microsoft Airbus MCDU, so it's most likely a limitation in it's programming.

Did you use Simbrief to create your route?

For example, I've also had waypoints that, rarely, display NOT IN DATABASE when I have the current Navigraph AIRAC update in the simulator. I've also had problems with the MCDU deleting routes I've imported from SimBrief, and putting in all waypoints manually (including the departure and arrival) seems to have fixed the problem for me (though can be tedious).

Another example I can give is there are rare moments when I've entered an arrive to an airport, but several waypoints, according to Navigraph charts, are missing. The MCDU will not all me to enter these waypoints. Therefore, I delete the arrival and enter all the waypoints manually.

The MCDU seems to not like some oceanic waypoints, and there is an option at the bottom of creating a Simbrief route, under the Route Finder drop down tab, to not use oceanic waypoints. You also have the option in the Simbrief Downloader app to download the flight plan without SIDS and STARS included, which may also be another workaround for various issues that users may have.

An update is currently being worked on to address some of these issues. I cannot say if it will address this specific issue, nor do I have a date when it will be released.

However, I will take a look at your route to verify, and I will put it on a list of other things that users have requested to be fixed.

I have your route, but can you give me your departure airport?

Yea I guess you're right, I tried to input another route: LAX-HNL. The FMC PRCH3 FICKY R528 FLITY .... (R528, not in database). So, you said I could download this direct into the fmc via simbrief Downloader? Once this program is installed, which directory do I save the .rte to?

Departure airport was KMIA.

I use the Simbrief downloader, scroll down and check both the FS2020 and FS2020 (No SID/STAR) options. I have them download to my C:\Users\User\Appdata\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulation folder. Once you generate the flight plan in Simbrief, you can use the downloader to download the flight plan.

You have two options to import the flight plan. One option is to use the more option at the bottom of the main menu to load the flight plan. However, if you attempt to start at the gate, MSFS will most likely change your flight plan. I won't rant my personal experience with this here :D , but there is a workaround to edit the flight plan with notepad in order to start at the gate.

A faster option that, if you want to start at the gate, is to start on the runway and use the slew controls to move yourself to the gate. If you would like to know how to edit those flight plan configs, just let me know.

Another option is to use FSUIPC7 to load the flight plan when you're sitting at the gate. However, rarely FSUIPC7 won't load the flight plan for some reason. In that case you'll have to go back to using the first option.

Departure airport was KMIA.
So, using Navigraph charts, I've input the departure KMIA to KATL. I used the FLMGO1 departure, and it automatically gives me...

KMIA DCT FLMGO1 DCT STYMY Q77 SHRKS DCT LAIRI DCT LARZZ

...so Q77 is already there. Importing it with Simbrief should make it load in the MCDU properly.

Just enter that route in your Simbrief Selected Route Box and generate the flight plan. Use Simbrief Downloader to download it. Then import it into the simulator.

With all this being said, you can enter every waypoint you have into the Selected Route Box, including your departure and arrival, and generate it. You do not have to use whatever route it gives you. This gives you complete control over what route you import, meaning you do should not have to mess with your flight plan at all in the MCDU other than your INIT (cost index, IRF, PERF, etc.).

Of course, this means you'll already need your departure and arrival information, which you can get from charts.

If you have Navigraph charts, you can ignore Simbrief completely. Create your route using charts using the Flights option on the left, under the General tab input your departure and arrivals, at the top fill in any other points that you want in your route, then under the export tab export the flight plan to whatever folder you'd like to use to import it into the simulator.

However, the Navigraph only method won't show you important information such as your block fuel, cost index, etc.

Therefore, creating your flight plan with Simbrief is a better option, then using the Import Into Charts option, so you have the best of both worlds.

You're welcome. Let me know how it works out for you once you try out some of these methods.
